Dominick P. Purpura (April 2, 1927 – May 16, 2019) was a neuroscientist.[1] who was well known for his research focused on intellectual disability. His work also focused on the origin of brain waves, developmental neurobiology, and epilepsy. From 1982 to 1983, Purpura was appointed as the president of the Society for Neuroscience.[2] In 1984, he was recruited to be the dean of Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University.[3] He served as the dean for a total of 22 years.[3]
